The first chart below shows the percentages of women and men in a country involved in some kinds of home tasks (cooking, cleaning, pet caring and repairing the house). The second chart shows the amount of time each gender spent on each task per day. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The provided charts illustrate the division of household chores between men and women in a particular country. The first chart presents the percentage of each gender involved in four specific tasks: cooking, cleaning, pet care, and home repairs. The second chart details the average daily time spent by men and women on each of these tasks.
Overall, women constitute a significantly larger proportion of those involved in all four tasks compared to men. However, while women dedicate considerably more time to cooking and cleaning, the time spent on pet care and home repairs is more evenly distributed between the genders, although still skewed towards women's participation.
Concerning task involvement, women overwhelmingly dominated cooking (90%) and cleaning (85%), whereas men's participation in these areas was considerably lower (10% and 15% respectively). A more even distribution was observed with pet care (60% women, 40% men) and home repairs (45% men and 55% women). This trend is largely mirrored in the time allocation chart.
In terms of time spent, women dedicated substantially more time to cooking (an average of 1.5 hours) and cleaning (1 hour) than men (approximately 15 minutes and 30 minutes respectively). The time spent on pet care (around 30 minutes for both genders) and home repairs (approximately 45 minutes for both genders) exhibited a smaller disparity between genders, although women still dedicated slightly more time on average to each.
