Overall, it is immediately noticeable that Mexico and America were the largest importer of citrus fruits as a whole. Additionally, oranges were the most favored imports compared to all categories of citrus fruits featured in the graphs.
Regarding oranges, South Africa dominated at 1,000,000 tons, followed closely by Egypt at 900,000 metric tons. Meanwhile, the United States only imported 650,000 tons of oranges, placing it at the lowest position in the corresponding graph. The country that lemons were shipped to the most was Turkey, at 500,000 metric tons. In addition, Mexico imports of lemons stood at 450,000 metric tons, which was 200,000 metric tons higher than Argentina’s.
Meanwhile, South Africa and the United States shared similar data for grapefruits, both at 225,000 metric tons, whereas only 175,000 metric tons were imported by Turkey. Other types of citrus fruits were mostly brought in by Mexico, while Israel and America, despite being featured among the top exporters in this category, imported a comparably insignificant amount, at approximately 10,000 metric tons.
