The two maps show an Australian zoo as it was in 1960 and how it has been changed at the present time.
Overall, it can be seen that there have been many changes made to the layout of the zoo. Among them, the most obvious ones are the addition of some visitors' amenities and the expansion of the animals' exhibits.
Looking at the changes in more detail, the African animal exhibit located on the Northwest side of the zoo has been converted into an exhibit for wild animals. Moreover, the area for Australian animals to the South of the wild animal exhibit remains unchanged, which was also the case for the picnic area on the East side of the zoo.
The two maps also show that there used to be a harbor in the northwest section in 1960, which was moved westwards within the northwest area of the zoo, making room for the ferry service. Additionally, the gift shop in the north was reconstructed into a two-story building, which was accompanied by the construction of the two newly built entrances on the north and south sides of the zoo. The seal show has remained unchanged, while the area for the birds has been turned into one for African animals, which is located to the North of an additional chimpanzee enclosure. Moreover, a cable car system has been constructed, running from the North to the South of the zoo and vice versa.
