Describe a new development in the area where you live (e.g. shopping mall, park...)
You should say:

I’m going to talk about a recent development in my area, which is a new shopping mall that was built in the city center. The mall is called Vincom Plaza, and it’s located on a busy main street, right in the heart of the city. It’s quite a large building with several floors that include shops, restaurants, and even a cinema.
Before the mall was built, the area was mostly empty land, and there wasn’t much to do around there. People usually had to travel to other parts of the city to do any shopping or hang out. The streets around the area were also quite run-down, and there wasn’t much traffic passing through.
It took about two years to complete the whole project. I remember seeing the construction site for a long time, and it seemed like it was progressing slowly at first, but eventually, it all came together. The mall finally opened last year, and it’s been really popular since then.
Most people seem to feel positive about the new development. It’s brought a lot of convenience to the local residents, especially for shopping and entertainment. I’ve noticed that more and more people are spending their weekends there, and it’s become a place where families can relax and enjoy their time together.
I think this development has really improved the area. The streets are much livelier now, and the mall has helped to create jobs and attract businesses. Overall, it has brought a lot of new energy to the city, and it has become a central hub where people can gather and socialize.
Dưới đây là một số từ vựng IELTS hữu ích được sử dụng trong bài nói trên:
Well, I’d say I use motorbikes the most. It’s really common here in Vietnam. I find it convenient for short distances, especially in the city where traffic can be pretty crazy. Also, it’s more affordable than a car and easier to park. To be honest, I rarely use buses or taxis unless it’s absolutely necessary.
Honestly, the subway system is still in its early stages. In Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, there are projects under construction, but they’ve been delayed many times. I think once they’re finished, it’ll be a great way to reduce traffic congestion. Right now, though, most people still rely on motorbikes and buses since the subway isn’t fully operational yet.
I believe so, yes. I mean, many young people enjoy going to the cinema, especially for big Hollywood blockbusters or popular Vietnamese movies. It’s a social activity, so they often go with friends or on dates. But at the same time, with streaming services like Netflix, I’ve noticed that some people just prefer staying at home and watching movies online. It’s more convenient and cheaper, too.
Well, parks are definitely a good example. In Vietnam, you’ll see people of all ages using parks for exercise, like jogging or doing Tai Chi. Playgrounds are also popular for kids, while older people enjoy just walking or sitting to relax. Another place would be community centers or sports facilities. These places usually offer activities like badminton, swimming, or even yoga, which can appeal to a wide range of age groups.
That’s a good question. From my perspective, the biggest issue is that the bus system isn’t very reliable. The schedules can be inconsistent, and buses are sometimes overcrowded. I think they could improve by having more buses, especially during peak hours, and making the service more punctual. Also, it would be nice to see the government invest more in maintaining the buses, as some are quite old and not very comfortable.
Not really, to be honest. While public transportation is available, it’s not as widely used as motorbikes. Most people still prefer their own vehicles because it’s faster and more flexible. I think buses are mainly used by students and older people who don’t have access to motorbikes. But in big cities like Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, as traffic gets worse, more people might start using public transport if it becomes more efficient.
