    1. Đề bài

Describe a place you visited with your friends where you had a good time

    You should say:

    • What the place is
    • Who you went with
    • When you went there
    • And explain why you think it is a good time

    2. Sample answer

I'm going to talk about a trip I took with my friends to Sapa, which is a popular tourist destination in northern Vietnam. Sapa is known for its stunning terraced rice fields, misty mountains, and cool weather, which makes it an ideal getaway from the heat of the city. It’s a place that combines natural beauty with interesting cultural experiences.

I went there with three of my closest friends from university. We had been planning the trip for a while, and finally, we managed to go during a break from our studies last summer. We took an overnight bus to Sapa and spent about three days there, exploring the town, trekking through the nearby villages, and enjoying the local food.

I think it was such a great time for a few reasons. First, we got to do things we don’t usually do in the city, like hiking through the mountains and interacting with the ethnic minorities who live in the area. The views were incredible, especially at Fansipan, which is the highest peak in Vietnam. We took a cable car to the top, and from there, the scenery was just breathtaking.

Second, the trip allowed us to bond as friends. We spent hours talking, laughing, and taking photos together. Since we all live busy lives, this was a rare opportunity for us to relax and just enjoy each other’s company. I think it was a great time because we had the perfect combination of adventure, beautiful landscapes, and good friendship. It’s one of those trips I’ll always remember fondly.

    IELTS Speaking part 3

Tham khảo một số câu trả lời phần thi IELTS Speaking part 3 đơn giản dưới đây từ SOL nhé:

    1. Why do people need friends?

In my view, people need friends because they provide emotional support and companionship. Friends are there to share both happy and difficult moments, and that helps us feel less lonely. Also, friends can give advice or a different perspective on things when we’re facing challenges. In Vietnam, friendships are really important, and people often rely on their close friends for help or just to have fun together.

    • emotional support /ɪˈmoʊʃənl səˈpɔːrt/: hỗ trợ tinh thần
    • companionship /kəmˈpæniənʃɪp/: tình bạn, sự đồng hành
    • different perspective /ˈdɪfrənt pərˈspɛktɪv/: góc nhìn khác
    • face challenges /feɪs ˈʧælɪnʤɪz/: đối mặt với thử thách

    2. How do you communicate with friends?

Nowadays, I mostly communicate with my friends through social media apps like Facebook, Zalo, or Messenger. It’s quick and easy, especially since we can send messages or video call anytime. However, I still prefer face-to-face communication when possible because it feels more personal. Meeting up for coffee or going out together allows us to bond better.

    • face-to-face communication /feɪs tə feɪs kəˌmjuːnɪˈkeɪʃən/: giao tiếp trực tiếp
    • bond better /bɒnd ˈbɛtər/: gắn kết tốt hơn

    3. Do you think most people prefer to stay alone?

Well, I think it depends on the person. Some people really enjoy being alone because it gives them time to think or focus on their hobbies without distractions. However, I believe most people still prefer to be with others, even if it’s just for a short time. Humans are social by nature, so we often seek out company, whether it’s with family, friends, or even coworkers.

    • focus on hobbies /ˈfoʊkəs ɒn ˈhɒbiz/: tập trung vào sở thích
    • social by nature /ˈsoʊʃəl baɪ ˈneɪʧər/: có tính xã hội tự nhiên

    4. Why don't some people like to socialise?

There are a few reasons why some people might not enjoy socializing. For example, they might be shy or introverted, so being in a big group makes them feel uncomfortable or anxious. Others might have had bad experiences with people in the past, which makes them hesitant to open up. Some people also just prefer their own company and feel that socializing is exhausting rather than enjoyable.

    • shy or introverted /ʃaɪ ɔːr ˈɪntrəvɜːrtɪd/: nhút nhát hoặc hướng nội
    • feel uncomfortable or anxious /fiːl ʌnˈkʌmfərtəbl ɔːr ˈæŋkʃəs/: cảm thấy không thoải mái hoặc lo lắng
    • hesitant to open up /ˈhɛzɪtənt tuː ˈoʊpən ʌp/: ngần ngại mở lòng
    • exhausting rather than enjoyable /ɪgˈzɔːstɪŋ ˈræðər ðæn ɪnˈʤɔɪəbl/: mệt mỏi hơn là thú vị

    5. Can talking with people improve social skills?

Yes, definitely. The more we talk with people, the more we improve our communication skills. By having conversations, we learn how to express our thoughts clearly, listen to others, and respond appropriately. It also helps us understand different perspectives, which is important in any social setting. In Vietnam, I think young people who are active in social groups or clubs tend to have better social skills because they get more practice.

    • active in social groups or clubs /ˈæktɪv ɪn ˈsoʊʃəl gruːps ɔːr klʌbz/: tích cực trong các nhóm xã hội hoặc câu lạc bộ

    6. Does technology help people communicate better with others?

It seems to me that technology has made communication much easier and faster. With apps like Facebook or WhatsApp, we can stay in touch with friends and family no matter where they are. It’s also great for people who are shy because it allows them to communicate without the pressure of face-to-face interaction. However, I think it can sometimes make communication less personal. For example, text messages don’t always convey emotions as well as a face-to-face conversation would.

    • stay in touch /steɪ ɪn tʌʧ/: giữ liên lạc
    • without the pressure of face-to-face interaction /wɪˈðaʊt ðə ˈprɛʃər əv feɪs tə feɪs ɪnˌtɛrækʃən/: không có áp lực của giao tiếp trực tiếp
    • less personal /lɛs ˈpɜrsənl/: ít cá nhân hơn
    • convey emotions /kənˈveɪ ɪˈmoʊʃənz/: truyền tải cảm xúc

    7. How long should we spend time with others?

I think it really depends on the person and their preferences. Some people love spending lots of time with others and feel energized by it, while others might only need a little social interaction to feel connected. I’d say spending a few hours a day with friends or family is a good balance, but it’s also important to have time alone to recharge. The key is finding what works best for you.

    • social interaction /ˈsoʊʃəl ˌɪntərˈækʃən/: tương tác xã hội
    • a few hours a day /ə fjuː ˈaʊərz ə deɪ/: vài giờ mỗi ngày
    • time alone to recharge /taɪm əˈloʊn tuː riːˈʧɑːrdʒ/: thời gian một mình để nạp lại năng lượng

    8. What skills can people learn when spending time with others?

When we spend time with others, we can learn a variety of skills, like communication, teamwork, and empathy. For example, when working on a group project or just hanging out with friends, we learn how to cooperate and share ideas. We also become more understanding of other people’s feelings and viewpoints, which helps us develop empathy. In Vietnam, spending time with family is also a way to learn life skills, like how to take care of others or solve everyday problems.

    • empathy /ˈɛmpəθi/: sự đồng cảm
    • cooperate and share ideas /koʊˈɒpəˌreɪt ənd ʃɛr aɪˈdiːəz/: hợp tác và chia sẻ ý tưởng
    • develop empathy /dɪˈvɛləp ˈɛmpəθi/: phát triển sự đồng cảm
    • life skills /laɪf skɪlz/: kỹ năng sống

    9. People should spend more time with close friends or groups of friends?

I think it’s important to have a balance. Spending time with close friends allows for deeper conversations and stronger emotional connections, which is really important for personal well-being. On the other hand, spending time with a group of friends can be fun and exciting, as you get to experience different opinions and activities. In my opinion, it’s nice to have close friends for support but also enjoy the variety that a larger group brings.

    • deeper conversations /ˈdiːpər ˌkɒnvərˈseɪʃənz/: các cuộc trò chuyện sâu sắc hơn
    • emotional connections /ɪˈmoʊʃənl kəˈnɛkʃənz/: sự kết nối cảm xúc
    • personal well-being /ˈpɜːrsənl wɛlˈbiːɪŋ/: sức khỏe cá nhân
    • variety /vəˈraɪəti/: sự đa dạng
